Our Goals and Objectives:
- Enhance Member Engagement and Participation
Increase active participation in Region VII events, webinars, and committees by 10%, fostering stronger community connections and knowledge sharing. - Expand Educational and Training Opportunities
Develop and deliver at least 2 new training programs or workshops focused on emerging safety challenges, regulatory updates, and best practices in occupational health. - Support VPP Site Certification and Recertification
Assist at least 5 member sites in achieving or maintaining OSHA VPP certification through mentoring, guidance, and sharing of resources. - Strengthen Advocacy and Regulatory Awareness
Enhance communication with members on regulatory changes and advocate for policies that support effective and practical safety management. - Improve Communication and Technology Utilization
Upgrade Region VII’s communication platforms to ensure timely and accessible information dissemination, including a refreshed website and social media presence. - Recognize Excellence in Safety
Host an annual awards program to celebrate outstanding safety achievements and innovations among member organizations. Award (1) $5,000.00 Scholarship in 2025.
Region VII VPPPA is dedicated to providing educational workshops to assist sites at all stages of the VPP process. Our Applications Workshop is an eight-hour educational workshop tailored toward worksites interested in applying to the VPP through OSHA, OSHA State-Plan or the Department of Energy (DOE). Our Sustaining Star Quality Workshop is a four-hour educational workshop that offers experienced participants from VPP certified sites a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and discover fresh approaches to meeting the requirements for VPP re-approvals.
The Region VII Mentoring Program is a formal outreach process to assist companies interested in the VPP or improving their safety and health management systems. The program matches interested sites with current VPP Star site personnel to help them achieve VPP recognition.
OSHA’s Special Government Employee (SGE) Program is supported by Region VII and its membership. A SGE serves in the capacity of a Federal volunteer while they assist OSHA personnel during VPP onsite evaluations.
We’re also dedicated to recognizing the extraordinary efforts of sites and individuals through selected recognition and scholarship programs. The Region VII Mentor of the Year acknowledges the individual that epitomizes and exhibits support, time, effort and action in VPP. And the Region VII Scholarship Program rewards students who are leaders and role models in their schools and communities and who are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree or a degree in the trades.
