VPPPA Membership
The Voluntary Protection Programs Participants’ Association, Inc. (VPPPA) is the leading organization dedicated to supporting cooperative, occupational safety and health and environmental management systems, such as the Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP).

As a nonprofit, member-driven association, VPPPA provides networking opportunities and educational offerings, publications, up-to-the-minute legislative information, mentoring, professional development and volunteer opportunities.

For nearly 25 years, the association has provided members with a direct link to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Department of Energy (DOE) and similar agencies within state-plan states and continues to offer a support network for participants from a wide variety of industries.

Member sites include worksites approved for VPP by OSHA (Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska), state-plan OSHA (Iowa), sites pursuing VPP or looking to improve their safety, health and environmental programs, corporate offices, SHARP sites, agencies and companies who provide promotional products and educational tools and services.

Our site is a VPP approved site, is our site automatically a VPPPA member?
No. Approval into OSHA, OSHA state-plan or DOE VPP and membership with the association are mutually exclusive. For example, a site with VPP Star, Merit or Star Demonstration designations are not automatically members.

Our site has not received VPP approval yet, but we are interested in membership with the association. Can our site join VPPPA?
Yes. The ASSOCIATE member category is designed for sites pursuing VPP or interested in improving thier safety and health and environmental programs. ASSOCIATE members receive most of the same benefits as FULL members, excluding voting privileges.

Can federal agencies join VPPPA?
Yes. VPPPA activities conform with 18 U.S.C. ยง 1913, federal agencies can join the VPPPA using appropriated funds. The Office of the General Counsel from the Department of the Air Force developed a letter supporting VPPPA membership.

Does VPPPA sell its membership e-mail list?
No. The association does not sell its membership lists. E-mail addresses are shared with other VPPPA members to promote networking opportunities. To be removed from VPPPA mailing lists or Affiliate member mailing lists, please contact Membership@vpppa.org with “Remove from E-mailing List” in the subject line.

Does VPPPA have an umbrella or company-wide membership category?
No. Membership is on a site by site basis and dues are determined by the number of employees, excluding contractors, at that individual site. Likewise, VPPPA does not have an individual membership category.

If there is no company-wide membership category, what is the CORPORATE membership type?
The VPPPA CORPORATE membership category is for the corporate headquarters office. This category only covers individuals directly employed by the corporate headquarters.
